About Us

Christmas Donation: each year, instead of sending Christmas cards, Hodders make a donation to a chosen charity, this year donated to The Stroke Association. We held a firm wide nomination process and Caroline Mills’ (a Solicitor in our Wills & Probate Department) vote for The Stroke Association was the successfully chosen charity. The Stroke Association funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its Life After Stroke Services. These include Information, Advice and Support, Communication Support and Life After Stroke grants.

Jeans for Genes: for a number of years, Hodders Law has been holding a Dress Down Day on the last Friday of every month. Staff pay for this treat and as a result, over the years, we have raised lots of money for The Jeans for Genes Charity. Jeans for Genes fund research into genetic disorders which affect children. Genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 children born in the UK – that’s more than 30,000 babies each year. Their associated health problems mean that genetic disorders are the biggest cause of death of children aged 14 years and under.

Wandsworth Oasis

Wandsworth Oasis is a small community charity raising money for people with HIV in Wandsworth through 5 charity shops located in Battersea, Tooting and Furzedown.  The money raised through the sale of donated goods is distributed to local charities who work directly with people with HIV such as The FoodChain, Salvation Army, CARA Trust, Positively UK, NAM, Children with AIDS and MildMay Hospice.  Good quality donations are the lifeblood of these shops – and they gratefully accept book, DVDs, bric a brac, kitchenware, furniture, clothing and accessories and small electrical appliances – pretty much anything really.

Wandsworth Oasis have been around for just over 20 years.  They have 2 paid members of staff who manage the charity, but the shops are kept open by a wonderful team of volunteers (some of whom have been volunteering with them for almost that length of time, particularly in the Battersea shops!).  We would truly be lost without them…and our customers, donors and sponsors, of course.

You don’t hear much about HIV these days which is odd considering almost 100,000 people are living with HIV in the UK and about 1% of those are in Wandsworth.  Last year more people than ever in the UK were diagnosed with HIV – probably largely as a result of a lack of awareness of how it is transmitted – and a lot of statutory funding was cut.  So small charities need fuding more than ever.  Wandsworth Oasis exist to help the people who have already been diagnosed and to prevent further infection through the distribution of information through their shops.

Charity Run/Children In Need: for the past year, a few of our Solicitors have participated in the London Legal Support Trust, Walk the Thames Charity Event, the Directors of the firm doubled the amount they had raised.  This year we would like to go even further, focusing on the social aspect of fundraising and using the same as a very valuable team building exercise –we will this year be holding events in the names of: Children In Need and Comic Relief, along with the Office Ties Charity Fundraising events that we will be involved with.

Our Testimonials

“Dear Karen,

Thank you very much indeed for all that you, William Brown, and your support team at Hodders have done in connection with this purchase, and with the associated sale of Wallers Haven Barn. There were many times when I thought that we were not going to make one or the other, and it is in very large part down to your persistence that we are exchanged. Your care, patience and attention to detail have been much appreciated.

Mr L
