History

Although the Firm has only been called “Hodders” since approximately 1975, it is believed that the Firm itself started life in the previous century when, in about 1868, Thomas Harley Jones was practising as a solicitor at 76 Finsbury Pavement, London EC1. In 1881 Harley Rayner Hodders (believed to be his nephew) joined the practice and the partnership of Harley, Jones & Hodders was established and continued practising at 76 Finsbury Pavement. It is believed that the Firm moved to the Harlesden area during the First World War when its Finsbury Pavement premises were destroyed and that the Firm then practised from 1A St Mary’s Road, London NW10.

In approximately 1932, Harley Rayner Hodder’s son, John Rayner Hodder, joined the Firm which changed its name to H R Hodder & Son. Later, the firm bought the practice of Edgar H Hiscock in Craven Park, London NW10, and for many years the two practices continued from their separate offices. In about 1975, however, new premises were acquired at 11 Station Road, Harlesden, London NW10 when both practices were combined under the same roof and under the name of Hodders.

Since 1975 the Firm has continued to expand and in August 1990 an additional office was opened at 162 Church Road, Willesden, London NW10. On 24 May 1994 the Firm acquired the practice of R Ormsby-Taylor & Co at 311 Harrow Road, Wembley. In April 1997 a further office opened in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and In 1998 the firm purchased the office premises of TW Lynch & Co at 50 Station Road NW10. The firm opened a sixth office in Hayes, Uxbridge in January 2000. In August 2000 the firm further expanded and diversified by opening a Sales and Lettings office in High Street, Harlesden. In April 2003, the firm acquired the practice of Regan & Co., Battersea. It was agreed that this office would be known as Hodders Law Firm incorporating Regan & Co.

In 2010, following a substantial re-fit, the firm, now known as Hodders Law, moved its head office to the existing branch office at 50 Station Road, Harlesden.

Our Testimonials

“Dear Karen,

Thank you very much indeed for all that you, William Brown, and your support team at Hodders have done in connection with this purchase, and with the associated sale of Wallers Haven Barn. There were many times when I thought that we were not going to make one or the other, and it is in very large part down to your persistence that we are exchanged. Your care, patience and attention to detail have been much appreciated.
