Administration of Estates

Wills and Probate

When someone dies, we are able to assist you in dealing with their affairs.

We advise the Personal Representatives (Executors where there is a will, Administrators if there is no will) in taking the appropriate steps to obtain a Grant of Probate which is key to dealing with the assets and liabilities of the estate. Complete accounts are prepared by us and the Personal Representatives are advised on the duties of the Personal Representatives to follow the trusts in the will or intestacy rules (where no will exists) and in keeping an inventory of the estate.

We deal with all inheritance tax issues and can advise on minimising the inheritance tax liability of the estate. We take all the burden off your shoulders and deal with the following to make a stressful time more easy for you:

  • preparing and filing HM Revenue and Customs accounts and ensuring all reliefs and exemptions are utilised
  • obtaining a Grant of Probate from the High Court
  • dealing with overseas assets and clients based abroad with assets in the UK
  • maintaining an estate account of all assets, liabilities and administration expenses
  • ensuring all assets and liabilities are dealt with in a prompt and efficient manner

For a straight forward estate where there are no contentious elements we aim to have the estate wound up from 6 months from instruction and distributions made to beneficiaries accordingly.

Advising on Contentious Trust and Probate Matters

We provide extensive advice on any disputes that arise out of the administration of an estate or trust
