Whilst a Personal Licence is granted to an individual and, subject to renewal, will remain with that person for their duration, when you buy or sell a licensed premises, the Premises Licence can be transferred to the new owners.

An application to transfer a licence can be made the moment consent of the existing licence holder is given, it can be difficult to attach a value to peace of mind in knowing that your application has been checked, made and served on the correct parties by an experienced and specialised licensing team.

It should also be noted that, under certain circumstances -when purchasing a premises from a liquidator or mortgagee in possession for example – consent to transfer a licence may not be forthcoming. When such unexpected stumbling blocks enter your path, contacting the legal team with experience in less common applications can save you thousands of pounds in fresh applications and delays in operating your business.

Our Testimonials

“Dear Karen,

Thank you very much indeed for all that you, William Brown, and your support team at Hodders have done in connection with this purchase, and with the associated sale of Wallers Haven Barn. There were many times when I thought that we were not going to make one or the other, and it is in very large part down to your persistence that we are exchanged. Your care, patience and attention to detail have been much appreciated.
