What are You Paying For?
Conveyancing this the process of carrying out the legal checks necessary for the buying and selling of a property. Once everything has been checked, the solicitors draft the contract for exchange, which, once signed, is the binding contract between the buyer and seller.
If you are purchasing a property, your solicitor has a bit more work than a seller’s solicitor because they have to check that everything is in order. Amongst other items, we carry out searches to check that there are basic utilities such as electricity or sewerage or that the property has legal rights of access. As part of your quote you will be charged disbursements, which are the costs associated with carrying out these searches.
It is essential that any estimate is complete and as accurate as possible. You can never be 100% accurate, because the conveyancing process is never straightforward.
